CLC Course #05-01: Belly Dance May 19
This is a class to connect to your Inner Feminine Energy through the ancient sacred dance of belly dance. We will begin with a Meditative warm-up, learn classic belly dance moves, and end with a meditative stretch and grounding exercise. This is a beautiful and fun way to explore your feminine core! This workshop will be held outside in our pavilion. Coin skirts ($10) will be available for purchase. CLC Course #05-02: Aromatherapy and Beyond - Class #2 - Oils of the Bible May 19
Why were oils used in Biblical times? What is the viability for use in 2012? There will be a short, guided Meditation with Essential Oils. This is a group participation in Sacred Space. The class will have a Q&A session. Participants will be using, sharing and smelling oils, and should consider this when registering for the class. The fee includes handouts and Essential Oil sharing. CLC Course #05-03: Introduction to Healing Touch - May 19
Healing Touch is an energy-based healing modality that brings harmony and balance to the body’s energy system for the purpose of healing. It is also good for relaxation and pain relief. This class is an introduction to Healing Touch. It will cover topics such as the body’s energy system and the history of Healing Touch. CLC Course # 05-04: Taking Better Pictures with a Digital Camera May 19
Digital and film cameras perform the same basic function, they capture light as a two dimensional image. How they capture that light is where the difference lies. We will begin with brief look at how digital cameras work and then examine the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of digital cameras on the market with the goal of helping you decide which type camera or cameras will provide you with the tools to capture the kinds of images you want. The rest of the workshop will focus on the marriage of the technology of digital cameras with the art of all photography. We will explore the artistic concepts of lighting, contrast, composition, framing, and conveying motion. A major topic will be exposure, how aperture, shutter speed, and camera sensitivity interact, how you can use your camera’s ability to measure exposure, and how you can adjust that exposure to produce the desired creative results. CLC Course #05-05: CPR/AED May 19
This course provides knowledge and skills for emergency life-saving techniques involving infants, children and adults. Respiratory and cardiovascular distress, non-breathing, unconsciousness, choking, and cardiac arrest are addressed. Examinations are included. Students receive an EMS Safety Services certification card upon successful completion of the CPR/AED exam. CLC Course #05-07: Introduction to Qi-Gong and T’ai Chi Ch’uan - May 19
In this introduction to Qi-Gong and T’ai Chi Ch’uan workshop, you will learn about the many health benefits of doing Qi-Gong exercises and of learning a T’ai Chi form. This workshop will cover the basics of how to stand, breathe and move, and will show you how to do a series of Qi-Gong exercises with specific health benefits. The beginning portion of Cheng Man-ch’ing’s short Yang form will also be taught so participants can experience how it feels to do a T’ai Chi form. About the Community Learning Center at Spirit of Life

The Community Learning Center at Spirit of Life offers Lifelong Learning for Meaningful Living, through classes on a wide variety of topics.   The classes are scheduled from January through June 2012. All are open to the public.

Our Spring 2012 Catalog, from classes in April, May and June is now available. It can be downloaded here. .

The goals for this program are learning, fun, community building within our congregation, public service outreach to the surrounding community, and fundraising.

CLC Refund Policy

No refunds will be issued after the class start date. Full refunds, including materials fee, are available only on class withdrawals made six days or more before a class starts. A $5 administration fee will be applied to withdrawals made 1 to 5 days prior to the start of a class. 

Registration for CLC classes means you agree to our policies for withdrawals, refunds and stated fees.

Lunch

On the third Saturday class days, a light lunch will be available for purchase at a modest price. Lunchtime is 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Please make your lunch reservations in advance so we know how much food to get. There is also a place on the registration form to indicate if you prefer a vegetarian lunch. You can pay on class day with cash or by check when you get your lunch. You are also welcome to bring your own lunch with you if you prefer.  If purchasing tickets via Eventbrite, please indicate in the appropriate space if you would like to order lunch, as well.
